Workshop on starting or extending a summer meal program in your library:
Friday, March 6, 2015
10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Fresno County Library, Central Branch

When school closes for the summer break, many of California’s low-income children and youth lose access to learning opportunities and access to the nutrition provided by the free or reduced-price meal they received through their school’s lunch or breakfast program.

Lunch at the Library, a collaborative project of the California Library Association and the California Summer Meal Coalition, is an effort to help California’s public libraries successfully support the health and well-being of children when school is out through summer meal programs.

Attendees will learn about:
• The basics of summer meals and how to get started
• Is this right for your library (and is it right, right now?)
• How to align summer meals with summer reading and other programs
• Working with community partners and volunteers
• Successes, challenges and program impact at Kern County and Fresno County libraries
• Using outcome-based evaluation to measure program impact
• Free resources to support your program
• The workshop will be facilitated by trainer and youth advocate, Virginia Walter.

There is no cost to attend and travel scholarships are available. Please register no later than FEBRUARY 20, 2015. REGISTRATION:
