brown girl dreamingJacqueline Woodson Wins National Book Award: Jacqueline Woodson’s memoir in verse, Brown Girl Dreaming, won in the Young People’s Literature category at the 65th National Book Awards on November 19, 2014. California Summer Reading Article: Eva Mitnick, coordinator of children’s services at Las Angeles Public Library, has written a very helpful article on the 2015 summer reading program, “Read to the Rhythm.” She recounts the workshop held last week at the Calif. Library Association conference in Oakland, which offered many great ideas for hands-on programming that goes with that theme.
