APALA AWARDS: The 2013 Asian/Pacific American Awards for Literature were posted on Feb. 3, 2013. The winner in the Picture Book category is Good Fortune in a Wrapping Cloth by Joan Schoettler, with illustrations by Jessica Lanan. The winner in the Children’s Literature category is Chegli and the Silk Road Caravan by Hildi Kang. Check their website for Honor books, and winners in the Young Adult and Adult categories:

New BayNews: BayViews, the website of the Association of Children’s Librarians (of Northern California) has posted several new columns and resources. These include storytime outlines on Strawberries, Digging in the Sand and Digging in the Flower Garden, programming ideas relating to Dr. Seuss and Read Across America, and read-alikes for tween novels told from multiple perspectives, and tween novels featuring East Indian-American characters.
